TRAINING
Get the Most From Your Tascomp System
A well-designed system is only as effective as the people using and supporting it.
Tascomp provides practical training to help your teams understand their system, use it effectively and get the most value from the information and functionality available.
Training is tailored to the Tascomp system you have purchased, how it has been configured and the responsibilities of the people attending. Rather than giving every user the same course, we can focus training around the roles, departments and activities that matter to your organisation.
Training can be delivered online, at Tascomp's offices or on site, depending on what works best for your team.
TRAINING DESIGNED AROUND YOUR PEOPLE
Different users need different levels of knowledge.
For customers with developer licences, training can go further, providing the knowledge required to create displays, reports and other system functionality.
We therefore build training around what each person needs to do, rather than providing the same generic training to everyone.
OUR TRAINING COURSES
Eight areas, mixed and matched to suit who's attending and what they're responsible for.
Designed for people using the system as part of their day-to-day role. Depending on the system, this can cover navigation, operator interactions, production information, entering or selecting reasons, responding to system prompts and understanding the information presented to them.
The emphasis is on practical use of the system within the working environment.
A deeper understanding of the system and the tools available to manage it. Depending on the system, this can include managing products, batches, jobs or works orders, correcting production information, managing users and privileges, using analysis and trending tools, and understanding how information is presented across the system.
Training can also cover the wider system architecture and relevant configuration and management functions.
Focuses on the technical environment behind the system and gives your internal team the knowledge to investigate common problems. This can include understanding how servers, databases, clients and shopfloor equipment communicate, checking system and network status, investigating connectivity problems and using available diagnostics.
We can also work through realistic fault scenarios, helping IT teams understand how to identify the source of an issue, what can be resolved internally and when an issue should be escalated to Tascomp.
Aimed at the people responsible for keeping the system and associated hardware operational. This can be more hands-on, focusing on the physical components that make up the installation, including panels, industrial PCs, communications equipment, I/O and other system hardware.
Training can cover what the different components do, what to check when something stops working, basic fault-finding and how to safely restore the system to normal operation. Where appropriate, practical fault scenarios can be used to work through common issues rather than simply presenting the information theoretically.
Having access to production data doesn't automatically mean an organisation is getting the most from it. This training helps teams understand the information being generated by the system and how to use it to identify opportunities for improvement. Training can cover:
- OEE and its component measures
- Availability, performance and quality
- Downtime and loss analysis
- Production performance against targets
- Understanding trends and historical data
- Identifying recurring losses
- Using dashboards and KPIs
- Turning production data into improvement actions
This can be particularly valuable for production managers, continuous improvement teams and operational leadership.
For customers with engineering teams who need a deeper understanding of their system, we can provide more technically focused training. This can include system configuration, communications, data sources, system architecture, diagnostics and other technical areas relevant to the specific installation.
The depth of training can be adjusted depending on whether the objective is simply to understand the system or to give your engineers greater independence in managing and supporting it.
For customers with a Tascomp developer licence, we can provide training that enables internal teams to develop and maintain elements of their own system — making appropriate changes without always relying on Tascomp for every development requirement. Depending on the system, this can include:
- Creating and modifying displays
- Developing operator interfaces
- Creating reports
- Configuring data views and visualisations
- Working with system data
- Creating trends and analysis screens
- Configuring alarms and events
- Understanding system objects and configuration
- Modifying existing functionality
- Testing and deploying changes
Training is tailored to the specific developer environment and level of access provided by the developer licence.
For specialist systems such as PAMS, training can be developed around the operational requirements of the people responsible for using and supporting the system. This focuses on understanding the system as part of the wider operational environment, rather than simply learning how to navigate the software. Depending on the system and operational requirements, training can cover:
- Understanding the purpose and operation of the system
- Navigating operational displays
- Understanding equipment and system statuses
- Managing and responding to alarms
- Understanding alarm priorities and notifications
- Identifying abnormal conditions
- Interpreting system information
- Understanding the relationship between equipment and displayed status
- Using system information when investigating an issue
- Appropriate responses to system events
- Escalation and reporting procedures
Where specific training or competency requirements apply, training can be structured around the relevant operational procedures and customer requirements. The objective is to ensure personnel understand not only how to use the system, but what the information it provides means and how it should be acted upon.
PRACTICAL, SCENARIO-BASED TRAINING
Where appropriate, we use your own system and real-world scenarios rather than relying solely on presentations.
Working through scenarios gives users the opportunity to practise the processes they may actually need when operating or supporting the system.
TRAINING DELIVERY
Three ways to run it, depending on what works best for your team.
TRAINING THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM LIFECYCLE
Training doesn't have to be a single event when a system is first installed. We can provide it at different stages, including:
As your system develops, your training can develop with it.
TRAINING BUILT AROUND YOUR REQUIREMENTS
Every Tascomp system is different, and so is every customer. The exact content of your training will depend on the products and functionality you have purchased, the way your system has been configured and the responsibilities of the people attending.
We can therefore tailor the scope, depth and delivery method to suit your organisation — from a focused operator session through to detailed technical, developer or specialist operational training.
